Conference Child Care
We are very happy to announce that in 2017, PyCon Australia will be able to offer on-site child care for attendees and speakers. We hope that this will encourage people who might otherwise have difficulty in attending.
Child care will be offered for the full program day on the specialist track and main conference days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). This child care will be on-site at the MCEC, and run by qualified child care workers.
Important: You must register for child care by Thursday 20th July. We can't guarantee that we will be able to organise child care places after this date, even if even if conference tickets are still available.
When and where
Child care will be open from half an hour before the first session each day, to half an hour after the last. This is 8:30am - 6:30pm on Friday and Saturday, and 8:30am - 6pm on Sunday.
Child care will be in room 101, which is very close to the rooms where the conference talks will be held. You can see the room layout and details of conference locations on the venue page.
Eligibility
All children must be up-to-date on their immunisation schedule to attend child care, unless they have an exemption recognised under Victoria's "No Jab No Play" legislation. If you wish to register a child who is not fully immunised for any reason, including a child with a recognised exemption, you must inform us, by emailing us at contact@pycon-au.org.
Child care is available for children under the age of 16.
Registration and fees
Attendees can request needed child care days as part of the registration process. There will be a per-day fee of $30 per child per day. Child care places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. If you register for child care, we will contact you for needed details about each child.
If you have any questions about child care, you can contact us at contact@pycon-au.org.
